Thank you, Dimitris!
Dimitris completed his work at CSKA with an amazing result. Under his leadership, the team took two Euroleague titles, six VTB United League and Russian titles, he also added to his personal collection two Alexander Gomelsky trophies (EuroLeague Coach of the Year), and five VTB League Coach of the Year prizes. During Itoudis’ eight seasons at CSKA, the team played 522 games, winning 420 of them (192-65 in the Euroleague and 228-37 in the VTB United League).
Also leaving the staff are assistant coaches Stefanos Dedas, Darryl Middleton and Kostas Khatzichristos. The club thanks all of them for the work done and wishes them good luck in the next stages of their careers.
Andrey Vatutin, PBC CSKA President:
Dimitris came to us, in fact, as a novice specialist, and in the end of his stint with CSKA, he wrote himself into history as one of the most successful coaches in European basketball, he became a real symbol of our club. Just look at the number of titles that we have won together, just remember that he is the CSKA all-time leader in victories. Itoudis devoted himself entirely to the team, he was a patriot of the club, always, in any situation, defended its interests, thought about development. Me, Dimitris and his wonderful family have developed a friendly relationship that I am very proud of. It's a pity he has to leave, but that's how life goes. I wish Dimitris and his family health, good luck and new victories with the Greek national team and the new club.
Dimitris Itoudis:
It's been an amazing eight seasons. Two titles in the EuroLeague, many titles in the United League, the VTB League Supercup, great games, playoff series, winning streaks, the records that this team set. And there's more to come! The team was before me, and will become stronger after me, I have no doubt. I am very grateful to Andrey Vatutin and Nornickel, Natalia Furaeva, Andrey Shchepankov, doctors and coaches for our joint work, for the opportunity to grow and develop as a person, as a coach, as a family man. I am proud of each and every one who works in this great club. I built relationships here, it's family to me! I also want to thank the fans for their love, for their understanding. I don't say “goodbye”, I say “see you around”. CSKA is a great club with great traditions and a future. I am sure that the club will make every effort to return to the top where it deserves to be.
