The start of European season will be special for CSKA. First, in the game against Armani Jeans the team has to deal with jet-lag consequences after the American Tour, second guard JR Holden can play his 200th career game in the Euroleague – absolute tournament record.
CSKA get back home from Cleveland through New York at 10 a.m. on Monday. The team had a day-off and got back to practices on Tuesday evening – with no tapes. Thus there were just one full practice – on Wednesday evening.
JR Holden joined the practices immediately. He was practicing in USH CSKA during the team’s trip to the US, so coaches had no doubts on including him to the roster. “We are happy that everything is fine with him, - CSKA head coach Dusko Vujosevic said. He missed three weeks of practicing so he will need time to get back into shape. But he is really precious for our team."
There is only one player left out of active list. Victor Khryapa continues to rehabilitate after ankle surgery. AJ Milan will miss Marjonas Petravicius.
“CSKA always aimed for the highest goals and we want to continue playing with the same ambitions this season, - Dusko Vujosevic said. Euroleague will be very strong again; many teams have good players and the same winning ambitions. So I expect no easy games. We will prepare for every game like it is the final game, we will move step by step. Only this kind of preparation and attitude will let us achieve our goals. Now we should be very cautious because the Tour took away a lot of energy and dealing with time difference kicks us out of rhythm. As for the Euroleague opener AJ Milano comprised a very good team which proved to be competitive in a game against New York Knicks where they played equal for three quarters.”
