Center Dmitry Sokolov (24 years, 214 cm) signed a three-year contract with CSKA Moscow in the club's office today.

During three previous seasons Dmitry played for UNICS Kazan winning different Russian League medals. Sokolov also won Russian Cup in February of 2009 taking part in defeating CSKA in the semifinal game.

Andrey Vatutin, CSKA Moscow CEO:
"I don’t want to keep back the fact that the agreement with Dimitri was one of our off-season priorities. At various times we were close to his move to CSKA - the last time it was three years ago, but now we are finally ripe. I see that Dima wants to prove to himself that he wants to play for CSKA. For us, it was the main thing, we agreed upon the details of the contract very quickly. Sokolov’s qualities are well-known for Eugene Pashutin, who coached him in the U20 National Team, and this is important. Dima understands that there is a lot of competition in CSKA, and he is ready to fight."

Dmitry Sokolov:
"I'm very pleased to move to such a famous club, because not everyone gets the honor of playing for CSKA. If you have not played in CSKA, you can not consider your career as successful. I should try to move to a qualitatively higher level, playing in the Euroleague. I want to help my team badly, I am ready to use my best efforts and abilities – those I already have and those I will acquire."
