Artem Zabelin and Alexey Shved just started practicing with their teammates but the injuries epidemic took out Alexander Kaun of the roster with back problems. Sasha will practice individually in Moscow together with Victor Khryapa (ankle) and JR Holden (leg). The junior team plays Khimki-2 this days so reinforcements will arrive to St. Petersburg only in the morning – Denis Polokhin and Ivan Strebkov will reach the destination by train in night.
“Spartak has a number of strong individuals on virtually every position”, - CSKA interim coach Dmitry Shakulin said. “Ponkrashov receives a lot of playing time and he became a dominating point guard. Domerkant is an elite shooter who can score off the screens, Zupan who just went back after injury helps the team under the baskets, Popovic starts the games well, he is a fighter, Beverley is familiar to us after the game in Miami and he adds more speed to the game. I’d call the roster classical, and we have to keep the highest level of concentration for all 40 minutes. Hopefully, this time we will be able to make our shots, to show the understanding of the basketball philosophy which takes so many working ours to implement.”
