Andreas Pistiolis: with CSKA until 2028!
Head coach Andreas Pistiolis signed a new contract with our club, valid until the end of the 2027-28 season...
CSKA and the Greek coach have been working together for almost ten seasons. During his first stint, from 2014 to 2022, Pistiolis served as Dimitris Itoudis's first assistant, winning two EuroLeague titles and six VTB United League titles during that period. In March 2022, Andreas transferred to Turkish Galatasaray, seizing the opportunity to begin his career as a head coach. Two years later, Pistiolis returned to CSKA before the start of the playoffs and has since successfully led our team, winning two out of two possible Belov Cups. Under Pistiolis' guidance, the Red-Blues have played 74 official games (including three in the 2021-22 season, when Andreas filled in for the ill Itoudis), winning 60 (81.1%).
Andrey Vatutin, CSKA President:
We don't see our team without Andreas, either now, after two consecutive Belov Cups, or in the future, as we consider Pistiolis one of the best coaches of his generation in European basketball. He has already proven himself to be a specialist who knows how to build a system, superbly manages the game, commands the respect of his players, knows how to successfully navigate difficult situations, and is constantly improving. It's crucial that Andreas has the utmost respect for CSKA, he is truly dedicated to the club, and values his work here above most other career opportunities. Therefore, we wish him and his family good health, and we all wish him continued great victories.
Andreas Pistiolis, CSKA head coach:
This journey continues, and the best is yet to come! I sincerely thank our president Andrei Vatutin and [Vice President] Natasha Furaeva for their trust and for giving me the opportunity to keep building CSKA’s future together. CSKA has been my family for more than a decade, and together with our players, our dedicated coaching staff, and our incredible fans, we will keep pushing harder. CSKA is here to win, and we will fight every second on the court to remain what we are: Champions!
