Using help from two young players of the main team, CSKA junior team won two out of three games of Russian Superleague final round in Vasilievo and earned the right to play the semifinal game against UNICS Kazan on May 16.

“It’s a pleasure to see the high level of the tournament, - CSKA-2 head coach Andrey Maltsev said. The teams show very good basketball, they are trying hard, many of them use the players from the main teams. For example, Tsypatchev, Kuzyakin and Zhukanenko play for UNICS-2. The first game we played with no help from aside and we were able to beat Rostov – very clingy, uncomfortable team for us. On the second day Shved and Zabelin joined us. They did not know our schemes so it was difficult for them at the beginning. Still we fought against Dynamo until the very end. In the evening we held additional practice and video – especially for Lesha and Artem. And today they helped us a lot against Khimki. Especially Alexey, who showed himself as a leader – on offense, in defense, by showing his winning spirit. In the first half we were down by 16 but displayed the real CSKA character, made adjustments on defense and earned the right to play in the semifinal. Unfortunately for us, Shved and Zabelin left to Moscow – the main team needs them for the preparations to the final series of Russian Championship.”
