Our team has not yet managed to meet all of its opponents at least once, but is already preparing for a repeat meeting with the only team that beat us in the first leg – Pari Nizhny Novgorod…
Rival from the top five
Nobody expected an easy walk from the visit to Nizhny. At least because at that time it was the third away game in a row for the team, and it too place almost immediately after a visit to the East, to Krasnoyarsk and Astana. And yet, the fans of the Red-Blues expected more from their favorites.
The Muscovites tried to realize their advantage, sometimes bringing the margin to double digits, but did not achieve the desired result. First of all, they suffered a crushing defeat in the rebounding battle (34-46), and could not survive the final possession by the opponents – the Nizhny Novgorod team sent Aubrey Dawkins to shoot, and he finished the game with a three-pointer.
The success in the meeting with CSKA allowed Nizhny Novgorod to consolidate its position in the top five with six wins and four losses. The hero of the previous game, Dawkins, is not the most productive player in the visiting team (13.2 points on average). Zach Nuttall is ahead (14.3), Dawkins is followed by Nemanja Djurisic (10.9 points, 5.4 rebounds) and Alexander Chadov (8.7 points).
With respect to the opponent
After a tough Sunday victory over Lokomotiv-Kuban, the Muscovites got two days off, after which they continued their preparation in full force at the arena in Krylatskoye.
"This is the first time we are playing with one of our opponents again, and Nizhny is the only team that has beaten us so far," said CSKA head coach Andreas Pistiolis. - This means that the game will be difficult, we need to approach it with 100 percent concentration and respect for the guests. We really hope that the fans' support will help us with this. I understand that it is not easy for them to get here to Krylatskoye, but we still expect to see many red-blues in the stands."
