CSKA archieved its first 20 points or more Euroleague victory at home in more than a year. It is not usual for CSKA to build such a gap. For example, there was only one team that lost in Moscow with 20+ points last season.
CSKA archieved its first 20 points or more Euroleague victory at home in more than a year. It is not usual for CSKA to build such a gap. For example, there was only one team that lost in Moscow with 20+ points last season. It was KRKA from Slovenia and the final result was 89-35.
As for current game, it started 45 minutes later. The bad weather caused huge traffic jams in Moscow so the bus with Pau players on board experienced a lot of troubles trying to get to CSKA sports hall. The referees of the game had the same problems.
CSKA - Pau-Orthez: 80-60
Almost all the quarters of the game had the same scenery. CSKA started all the periods with the runs, than the players tried to play spectacular and a bit selfish, that had helped Pau to come closer. In the second half CSKA started to play the zone defence, that looked pretty good but it is not clear if the club would use it in the next games.
In the 4th quarter Davor Marcelic tried to fight with the Moscovites alone. The Croatian scored 11 out of 15 points of his team in 10 minutes. But CSKA stayed concentrated until the very end of the game and did not let the rival come closer than 20 points. The final result is 80-60.
CSKA is going to play the next home game against German Skyliners on December, 15. The club is still on the top of the Group C. It is one out of 3 clubs in the Euroleague with no losses in the balance. The other two are Maccabi (4-0) in Group B and Fortitudo (5-0) in Group A.

It was really nice game and we absolutely deserved this victory. From the first minutes the temp of the game was extremely high. It was our 13th game and we could win all four quarter for the first time this season. Some moments we let Pau Orthez to score easy points but the we could score attractive balls in transition. Our opponent could score only 60 points. Only one player scored double digits. It was Davor Marcelic who is in the great shooting shape now. I think that we are on the right way in the growing up of our shape.

Today we decided to use zone defense against CSKA. We knew that our opponent likes to score many 3-pointers and tried to stop it. We could do it in the beginning of the game but later we did not have enough forces to stop fast players of CSKA. We were worse under both boards and let to score to many easy points under the basket. Also we made to many turnovers (21). CSKA is a great team who deserves to play in the Final Four.
