Dimitris Itoudis is named the VTB League Coach of the Year

Under the leadership of the Greek specialist, CSKA won 15 of 18 games and took the first place in the United League regular season. In the first round of the playoffs, our team beat Nizhny Novgorod, and in the semi-final series up to 3 wins they will meet Lokomotiv-Kuban Krasnodar.

CSKA also became the best defensive team, with Dimitris Itoudis' men allowing 70.0 points per game on average.

First, thank you for the honor to the League. Even though it’s an individual award I consider it a team acknowledgement. I could not be the Coach of the Year if I did not have such a great players and coaches around me. Thank you to all CSKA players, assistant coaches, management and the fans. We will work hard for many more team awards in the future.

The Coach of the Year trophy is awarded for the eighth time following the results of the regular season. The first winner was Khimki head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis, Vasily Karasev from Zenit St. Petersburg won it in the 2015-16 championship, Dimitris Itoudis received the award in 2014-15, 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, Astana head coach Emil Rajkovic got it in the 2019-20 championship, and Xavi Pascual from Zenit in the previous season.
