Megasport is preparing to host the fourth series of the Moscow derby. Our team is hosting MBA-MAI…

Derby. Part four

After a break

A difficult trip to Krasnodar and back, coupled with a tough game with Lokomotiv, required a mandatory rest. That's why the team took a break from basketball for two days: Monday included a flight from Stavropol, Tuesday was a day off. On Wednesday and Thursday, the red-blues trained in full force in Krylatskoye, and on Friday they returned to the Megasport court.

"MBA-MAI is distinguished by the fact that it tries to show its best basketball whatever happens," said CSKA head coach Andreas Pistiolis. "We have already found ourselves in situations where a relaxed attitude to the game led to problems, so we need to play at full strength from the very beginning, treat our opponents with respect and please our fans with a good basketball show."

Guests with medals

The schedule of Vasily Karasev's team has also been difficult in recent days. On Wednesday, they lost to Parma in a tough away game, and last weekend they played in the Russian Cup Final Four, eventually earning bronze.

At the same time, in the VTB League regular season, MBA-MAI achieved a certain stability, securing a place in the play-in zone. The team has a hard time competing with the favorites, but it often manages to earn victories against its neighbors in the standings.

The team's leaders are still veterans - Andrei Zubkov (14.6 points, 7.3 rebounds - second in the league), Vladislav Trushkin (8.5 points, 4.2 rebounds) and Evgeny Voronov (7.2 points). This honorable company is diluted by 24-year-old graduate of the CSKA youth team Makar Konovalov (10.6 points, 5.0 assists – fifth in the league).
