Starting this year, the VTB United League considers its SuperCup an official competition, which means that tomorrow the 2022-23 season will start for CSKA…

Lets consider that we are starting

Since last year, not only the status of the tournament has changed. It has become international. Two Serbian teams - Partizan and Mega - will compete for the Cup named after Alexander Gomelsky. In addition, the format has changed - from the Final Four, the SuperCup has turned into a super-short championship, with groups and playoffs. More precisely, six teams are divided into two groups, in which they will fight each other once, after which they will play classification games on Sunday.

The red-blues can be called the hosts - after all, the tournament is held in Moscow, but this is only a matter of geography and a larger number of fans. In fact, the team works in the same mode as all the guests of the capital, even with check-in at a hotel near the VTB Arena. CSKA worked as usual: basketball players got a day off after returning from St. Petersburg, on Tuesday they trained in Krylatskoye, and on Wednesday at the arena of the SuperCup.

Emil Rajkovic, CSKA head coach:

Our main job now is to implement what we need to implement from tactical point, some newcomers are here for just a couple of days need to acclimate, to get know other players and start playing together. We have time to do this though not too much. Supercup is ahead of us, and it will be another opportunity to make progress. It is very important and very good that Partizan and Mega are here. As we have no chance to play in international competitions this season, it is really important to mix with the teams and players from other countries, it is important for us, players, coaches. The fans will see good players and coaches, so it will be a festival for them.
