Our team visits the most successful club of the Old World during the crisis time for the hosts – they lost too many players due to injuries and illnesses...
Real is Real

PRE-GAME BREAKDOWN

The Army Men experienced something like this in the first part of the season. Now the “royal” club has something similar. The Madrid side lost injured Try Tompkins and then during the week Fabien Causeur, Thomas Heurtel, Vincent Poirier, Gershon Yabusele, Anthony Randolph, Juan Nunez and head coach Pablo Laso were tested positive for COVID-19. Rudy Fernandez also remains questionable for the game. So assistant coach Chus Mateo who took over for absent Laso has just 6 EuroLeague regulars on his roster, it is expected that Real will use some help from the second team players.

The Red-Blues, on the other hand, have no absences. 13 players boarded Aeroflot charter flight to Madrid. Only Andrey Lopatin and Alexander Khomenko stayed home.

REFEREES

Sasa Pukl (crew chief, Slovenia), Olegs Latyshevs (Latvia), Milan Nedovic (Serbia).

PRE-GAME QUOTES

Dimitris Itoudis, CSKA head coach:

The game vs Real Madrid is very important, crucial for us. Obviously, it is pity [that Real has COVID cases and injuries]. We want everybody to be healthy, to go to the arena and play [normal game]. Our club is blessed and cursed at the same time to be the favorite in every game, we are expected to win every night. Real is also a club with winning traditions, they have great players who are active, they may use different tactics. Regarding us, we are back on track after experiencing our difficulties. Still the game did not even start and we should not be distracted by the problems of our opponents. We have to be focused on the upcoming game.

Nikita Kurbanov, CSKA forward:

We are in good mood, latest game brought some optimism. We are a bit affected by big number of away game this months, it’s difficult physically. But we are used to it, we know how to deal with it. We are preparing as usually, Real is Real, we remember about it and we focus on the team that will be in front of us.

Не-не-не. Я не знаю, что с игроками и тренером. При всём уважении, один только Тавареш затоптал всех больших. О каком ЦВБП речь в этом сезоне...
Не орите, пожалуйста, про великую победу над Реалом. Если еще победят...
